Following the transfer of the national capital to Heian-kyo and establishment of Enryaku-ji Temple in Mt. Hiei, a lot of temples were built in Yamashina area, including Ansho-ji Temple, Bishamon-do Temple, Kanshu-ji Temple, and Mandara-ji Temple. Daigo-ji Temple was also built in on the top and foot of Mt. Daigo and Mt. Kasatori, which are located at the downstream side of Yamashina River.
