The annex of the Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art was built by the side of canal, on the site where Kyoto Municipal Auditorium East Hal, which as built in Taisho 6 (1917), was located. The annex was built after the east hall was be burned down in a fire in Showa 5 (1930).
