Miidera Station is located very close to the Otsu Boarding Area of Lake Biwa Canal. The station, which opened on May 7, Taisho 11 (1922), was named after Miidera Temple, the head temple of the Tendaijimon sect of Buddhism (its official name is Nagarayama Onjo-ji Temple)
